Elaine Chao, the U. S. Secretary of Transportation and former U. S. Secretary of Labor, focuses on critical improvements needed in America’s transportation infrastructure. She addresses the still safe but out-of-date U.S. Air Traffic Control system and explains how the shift to a GPS-based tracking to the system would reduce, congestion. Secretary Chao also explains the Trump Administration’s plans using Federal dollars to leverage State and private sector dollars to achieve the President’s goal of investing $1 trillion to fund infrastructure improvements. In addition, she addresses the excessive bureaucratic complexity of the transportation industry as well as how the permitting process for infrastructure projects needs to be streamlined.
